Cityscapes; featuring Patricia Chidlaw, Kim Cogan and Gus Heinze

Hespe Gallery will have a group exhibition featuring works that draw their inspiration from cities. The exhibition will run from September 1 through October 1, 2011.

Italian storyteller Italo Calvino once suggested that it was possible to build the perfect city piece by piece with “a brief glimpse, an opening in the midst of an incongruous landscape, a glint of light in the fog, and the dialogue of two passersby meeting in the crowd.” This September Hespe Gallery pieces together its own perfect city, constructed with works by Kim Cogan, Gus Heinze and Patricia Chidlaw. Each artist with their own vision of the myriad of shapes and forms a city can take; from Chidlaw’s colorful urban murals to Heinze’s crisp clean buildings and storefronts. What this collection hopes to achieve is the realization that sometimes it’s not the physical features of a city that are most important, but the impression that it imparts upon its visitors.
